Phil Stubbins

Phil Stubbins (born 18 October 1962) is a former footballer and manager, lastly the head coach of Australian Hyundai A-League club Newcastle Jets.
==Early years==
Stubbins is from Hull, England, and migrated to Australia in 1988. After schoolboy beginnings with his hometown club Hull City AFC, Stubbins also played for various Australian National Soccer League clubs, as well as holding spells in Asia.
After joining Australian outfit Heidelberg United, Stubbins concluded his first season by successfully claiming the Victorian Premier League title and subsequent promotion to the National Soccer League.
Phil Stubbins has played over 100 games in the top flight of Australian football for both Heidelberg United and South Melbourne FC, respectfully.

He was to leave Australian top flight football altogether for a period in 1993, as he pursued interests to gain entry onto the Australasia PGA Golf Tour.
His golfing ambitions were never truly fulfilled however, when he took the opportunity of becoming player/manager with Westvale Olympic FC in 1994.
He spent the next few years fulfilling a coaching/playing role until retiring from playing altogether in 2001.
